The BIFM is the ‘natural home’ of facilities management in the UK. Founded in 1993, the Institute provides information, education, training and networking services for over 12,000 members – both individual professionals and organisations.

With this in mind, we have recently expanded our service portfolio so that our customers have more choice. We are delighted to have been selected by International Students House (ISH) as their preferred maintenance provider for the buildings in Great Portland Street and York Terrace East. The bespoke programme ensures that all mechanical elements of their buildings will be regularly maintained. The schedule also includes regular testing and treatment of the water supply. ISH are able to call upon a 24/7 emergency service that is available all year round, including weekends and bank holidays. ISH will also have access to our new client website – allowing them to view the status of current call outs, as well as view and download copies of job sheets and invoices.

The NICEIC have issued a warning notice from the British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC) about cables that are being sold in the UK. There is a problem with the compliance of some Kaydour branded armoured cables which are commonly used in buildings and around building sites. The fault can result in overloading, overheating and ineffective earthing so you are advised to check your cabling and report any findings.
On April 1, 2009, the new Gas Safe Register replaced the CORGI registration scheme as the gas safety authority for Great Britain. Appointed by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), the Gas Safe Register exists to protect people and property from dangerous or sub-standard gas work. Read more…
More than 40,000 people in the UK are living with spinal injuries. Aspire was founded in 1982 to improve rehabilitation facilities at Spinal Unit of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, London. A state-of-the-art facility opened in 1991 and a major new extension was completed in 1998. The facility offers a swimming pool, dance studio, computer training room and a wide range of rehabilitation equipment. Read more…
Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) is part of the Government’s programme to manage climate change. It provides businesses and companies with an opportunity to claim tax relief on investments in equipment that meets specific published energy saving criteria. There are three ECA schemes in total – energy saving equipment; water efficient equipment and low carbon dioxide emission cars. The ECA scheme is available to all businesses that pay corporation or income tax in the UK.
