Council for the Registration of Gas Installers is the national watchdog for gas safety in the UK ensuring that gas work is carried out in accordance with the currently imposed gas safety and use regulations. It is a legal requirement for business’ or individuals working on gas fittings or appliances to be registered, meeting the stringent criteria set by the Health and Safety Executive.

HVCA

Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association represents the interests of firms active in the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration products and equipment, working towards an industry standard.

IIP

International Organisation for standardisation is a worldwide developer of standards set up to ensure products and services are of a certain quality, safety, reliability and efficiency. Each ISO member must ensure that their standards measure up to the ISO ideal.

NICEIC

National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting is the industry's independent, voluntary regulatory body covering the UK. Its sole purpose is to protect consumers from unsafe and unsound electrical work, maintaining a roll of approved contractors that are assessed every year to check that their work meets the national safety standard.

OFTEC

Oil Fired Technical Association looks after the oil heating and cooking industry throughout the UK. OFTEC is the trade association responsible for maintaining high standards of appliance manufacture and also maintaining the only Government register of competent persons qualified to work on oil fired heating and cooking appliances.

Safe Contractor

Is a health and safety accreditation scheme for contractors. It simply demonstrates to clients that health and safety policies and procedures are in place and they will be carried out in the workplace.
