Aspire National Training Centre, Middlesex
Working with Aspire –
a rehabilitation facility that’s open to the public
Situation: Founded in 1982, Aspire’s goal was to improve rehabilitation services for the Spinal Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, London. With that in mind, the charity opened a state-of-the-art facility next to the spinal unit in 1991. A public building, the facility included a gym, computer training room, drama room and sports hall. Aspire was so successful that a further £5 million was raised for a major new extension designed by Sir Norman Foster and completed in 1998. The addition of a swimming pool, dance studio, café and training suite meant Aspire could do even more to help the 40,000 people in the UK living with spinal injuries. To keep their services and building running smoothly, Aspire needed a bespoke and comprehensive maintenance programme.
Outcome: DMG Delta created a mechanical and electrical maintenance programme that was an exact match to the client’s requirements. From pumps and ventilation systems to air conditioning and boilers, DMG Delta keeps the entire facility operating at peak efficiency. The maintenance schedule is designed around Aspire’s busy agenda of classes and services. No mean feat when you consider the replacement of 250 lamps in the sports hall alone.
